Epic epicness answers

Here are the answers to the questions I posed in Friday’s post. Apologies for the delay in putting these up. Yesterday was a lovely day and I went to the beach. 🙂
First of all, here is an extract from the Chambers Online Dictionary:
triskaidekaphobia noun fear of the number thirteen.
ETYMOLOGY: Early 20c, from Greek treiskaideka thirteen.
Once again, thank you Con!
Here are the answers to the other questions:
- How many hairs are there on a human head: 100,000 or 500,000 or 1,000,000? A> 100,000
- If bovine refers to cows, what does ovine refer to? A> Sheep
- Who wrote A Clockwork Orange? A> Anthony Burgess
- What was Robert Burns speaking of in the line “Wee, sleek, cowering, timorous beasty”? A> Mouse
- What is the only word in the English language that ends in the letters MT? A> Dreamt
- Which geographical region is shared by Chile and Argentina? A> Tierra del Fiego
- What do England, France, Spain and Algeria have in common? A> All on the Prime Meridian
- True or false: According to most psychologists, the mind is a part of the human brain? A> False
It has been pointed out to me that I really shouldn’t have missed the ovine question as I’d gotten it before – and gotten it wrong. Hopefully, I’ll remember for the next time.
Questions 6 and 7 are examples of poorly worded questions as they can have more than one correct answer. In the case of 6, the answer could also have been Patagonia, the larger region which contains Tierra del Fuego. 7 is just ridiculous – I’m sure those four countries have many, many things in common. Hitting upon the one that the question setter sought became a case of pot luck and that is NEVER A GOOD THING, in my opinion.
Picture round:
Here are the Dingbat answers.
- Potatoes
- What goes up, must come down
- Eyeshadow
- Within reason
- Mayonnaise
- Step-sister
- Life begins at forty
- Clean underwear
- Three blind mice
- All for one and one for all
Hope you liked them.
Finally I really ought to have thanked my team-mates Ger, Mary and Willie in the original post. They were excellent company and intelligent to boot! Here’s hoping to many more quizzes in the future.

The only one of the dingbats I didn’t get was the last one and, technically, that’s all bar one for one and one for all. Of course though, you know me and football.
