No points for Meteor’s cheating-at-a-quiz ad

August 26, 2013 in Culture

Ok, what is going on here?

The tag line at the end is based on your smart phone (that David Walliams look-a-like is a phone, geddit?) needing data to function as you’d expect – in this case to cheat at a pub quiz.

However, surely a more accurate allegory would have been if smart-phone-man had been unable to provide any answer, as he didn’t have a data connection. Instead, he comes up with a blazingly incorrect answer and just appears generally stupid.

So Meteor’s rivals’ data plans somehow work but produce incorrect results? Perhaps this one should have been weeded out before it left the ad agency.
