Meanwhile, in the meedja

June 12, 2012 in Culture, Mastermind, Quiz Show

We are now entering the quizapocalypse (ie Summer) so I’d expect posts on the blog to thin out a bit.

To tide you over, here are a couple of articles from the last week that caught the eye.

Firstly, you can read Paddy Duffy’s entertaining Huffington Post article on the Irish heat of the World Quizzing Championships (and his participation in it) last week.  You can find it at www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/paddy-duffy/enter-the-eggheads-taking_b_1577377.html

Second, Eoin Butler, a man who hails from the same part of the country as myself (read, within six miles) was invited into the Mastermind Ireland studio recently, to sample the questioning style of Nora Owen.  You can see how he got on, and what he thinks of the show, by visiting the Irish Times site at www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/weekend/2012/0609/1224317551350.html

Trivia hits our TV screens on Thursday night at 10.15pm. This site’s own little contribution to the build-up to the show has certainly succeeded in getting the blog’s name out into the world at large.

Tablequiz.net and yours truly will feature in an article in this Thursday’s Irish Independent. I’ve known about that for almost a week now and was interviewed for it on Friday last.

However, I got a huge surprise this afternoon when I was contacted by a researcher on Ryan Tubridy’s radio show on 2FM, asking me to appear on the show on Thursday morning. I don’t know the exact time I’ll be on air, with the researcher only being able to estimate it’ll be between 9.30 and 10.30am.  If you’d like to hear what I have to say (or even what I sound like), tune in to 2FM or else via the station’s website, www.2fm.ie
