Guess who’s back answers (bonus track)

October 13, 2012 in Gilligan's, Quizzes

Below you will find the answers to the questions I posed in yesterday’s post, Guess who’s back.

I’m getting them posted today for two reasons.  Firstly, myself and Mrs Tablequiz are off to the Irish Blog Awards tonight so, you’d never know, I may need to do another post tomorrow. 😉 Then again, I probably won’t but I intend having a good night in any event!

Secondly, I spotted a nice little quiz on The Journal this morning.  It features 10 lines from Irish literature (or poetry) and you simply have to identify the author and the title of the work.  I surprised myself by getting 7 of the 10 right.  You can have a go at:

  1. Who took over from Roisin Shorthall as Minister of State for Primary Care recently? A>Alex White
  2. Which Louth town is almost exactly half-way between Dublin and Belfast? A> Dundalk
  3. Which Irish author said “The truth is rarely pure and never simple”? A> Oscar Wilde
  4. Who wrote the song Streets of London? A> Ralph McTell
  5. What was the final score in the 2012 All-Ireland Senior Football final? A> Donegal 2-11 Mayo 0-13
  6. Who captained Dublin to last year’s All-Ireland Football title? A> Bryan Cullen
  7. What was the final score in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling final replay? A> Kilkenny 3-22 Galway 3-11
  8. Which pub did US President Barack Obama visit in the Offaly town of Moneygall? A> Hayes
  9. Roger Babson invented what device, often hated by motorists, in 1928? A> Parking Meter
